Queensland Privacy

In 2001, the Queensland Government approved the implementation of a privacy scheme covering Queensland public sector agencies. The scheme regulates how personal information is collected, stored, used and disclosed by agencies such as the Central Queensland Ports Authority (CQPA).

The scheme is known as Queensland Privacy.

Personal Information - what is it?

The definition of personal information is very broad. It applies to any information or opinion about an individual or which is reasonably capable of identifying an individual. For example, personal information includes a person's name, address, age and any physical characteristics, such as height or eye colour and can also include sensitive information such as political loyalty, religious beliefs, medical history or financial details. This definition covers paper records, electronic records, video recordings, photographs and images.

Central Queensland Ports Authority Privacy Plan

In accordance with Queensland Privacy, CQPA is required to publish and implement a Privacy Plan explaining how it intends to comply with the provisions of the scheme. A copy of the CQPA Privacy Plan is attached below in Acrobat (PDF) format.
